Chlamydia gene research honored

March 29, 2015 — Brett Hanson, a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, won the Jane E. Raulston Award for best poster presentation by a postdoc at the seventh biennial meeting of the Chlamydia Basic Research Society (CBRS 2015).

Hanson's poster was titled, "In vivo transcriptional regulation of Chlamydia stress response." It described his work using chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) in the lab of Dr. Ming Tan to study the regulation of chlamydial genes inside an infected host cell.

A manuscript detailing the study is under revision for publication in Molecular Microbiology.

The meeting was held in New Orleans from March 29 through April 1, 2015.
