Anthony James

Anthony James received the wonderful news from NIH that his recently submitted R01 application will get funded. This is a 5-year R01.

Yongsheng Shi

Liang Liu successfully defended his thesis. Liang was supported by the Virology T32 predoctoral training grant. He plans to stay on as a postdoctoral fellow in Yongsheng Shi’s lab. 

Liang Liu is one of this year’s winners of the Harris S. Moyed Outstanding Graduate Student Award in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics. The award is given to a student for excellence in the Microbiology & Molecular Genetics graduate program as demonstrated by excellence in research, seminar presentations, and active participation in department scholarly activities.

Marian Waterman

Linzi Megan Nee successfully defended her thesis. Linzi was supported by an NSF predoctoral fellowship. She will finish her exciting studies on the colon tumor microenvironment in the next few months. 

Matt Marsden

Jose Moran, a graduate student in Matt’s lab, was appointed to the Virology T32 Training grant.

Klemens Hertel

Francisco Carranza successfully defended his thesis. Francisco was supported by an NSF predoctoral fellowship. He is currently taking a break from research hiking the Pyrenean Haute Route.
